GQ brings together Kendrick Lamar and Rick Rubin, after Kendrick was revealed as the cover star for GQ Style's latest issue. In the the hour-long interview, kendrick discusses his creative process's, stylistic decisions and inspirations with Rubin and goes on to praise Eminem for his influences after listening to the Marshal Mathers LP.
“I got my clarity just studying Eminem when I was a kid…The day I heard Marshall Mathers, I was just like, How does that work?”. At another point in the interview, Kendrick said that, while he considers himself "first and foremost a rapper," he's open to making an album in the future where he doesn't rap. He told Rubin: "I think I got the confidence for it. If I can master the idea and make the time to approach it the right way, I think I can push it out."
